Compare three vendors with cited sources before the demo
Perplexity researches three vendors and returns a comparison: pricing, features, customer fit, and deal-breakers, with sources.
A one-page comparison with the facts you need to decide, and the questions still open after research.
- 1
Name the use case, not the category
Say 'email platform for transactional emails, 50k sends/month' not just 'email platform.' The use case changes the comparison.
- 2
Open every pricing link
Confirm the pricing matches what Perplexity said. Stale or inferred pricing ruins the comparison.
- 3
Ask one of the two questions on every demo
Use the same questions across all three vendors so you can compare their answers directly.
The prompt to paste
Compare three vendors I am evaluating for [category: e.g., CRM, email platform, payment processor]. I need facts I can check, not marketing copy. Vendors: [Vendor A] [Vendor B] [Vendor C] What I need to decide: [e.g., which one integrates with our stack, which one scales to 10k users, which one has the support we need] For each vendor return: 1. Pricing: the real cost for our use case (per user, per transaction, or flat rate), with a link to the pricing page 2. Key features: the three features that differentiate this vendor from the other two 3. Integration: does it integrate with [your tools: Salesforce, Stripe, Slack, etc.], with links to documentation 4. Customer fit: who this vendor is built for (company size, industry, use case) 5. Deal-breakers: one thing that would disqualify this vendor for us (pricing, missing feature, region restrictions) 6. Source: link to the page for each claim Then add: - The one feature all three vendors lack - Two questions I should ask on the demo call Do not invent pricing or features. If a vendor does not publish a fact, say "not public" instead of guessing.
Vendor comparisons favor the vendor with the best marketing site. Confirm deal-breakers on the demo, not in the research.
