Research a lead before the first call
Perplexity gathers public information on a lead: recent news, company priorities, tech stack, and what you should not assume.
A one-page brief: who they are, what they care about right now, and three questions you should ask.
- 1
Use public sources only
Do not ask the agent to access internal CRM notes or private lists. This is public research.
- 2
Read the recent news link
Open the news item before the call. It may be a headline that does not match the article.
- 3
Ask one of the three questions
Use one of the suggested questions early in the call. It shows you did the research.
The prompt to paste
Research this lead before I take the first call. I need context, not a sales pitch. Lead: [name, title, company] If available, also include: [LinkedIn URL, company website, or recent public post] Return: 1. Role: what they are responsible for, in one sentence 2. Company priorities: what the company said it is focused on in the last 6 months (funding, product launch, hiring, expansion) 3. Tech stack or tools: only if publicly documented (job posts, blog, docs) 4. Recent news: one item from the last 90 days, with a link 5. What not to assume: one thing their profile or company page does not tell you 6. Three questions: what to ask on the call to confirm the research or learn what the profile hides Do not invent metrics, funding amounts, or stack details. If a section is not public, write "not found" instead of guessing.
A LinkedIn headline is not a job description. Confirm their actual focus on the call.
