Route an inbound lead before a human sees it

An n8n workflow reads a new lead, tags the route, and writes a three-line brief for the owner.

·Sales·40 min·Deep

Every new lead lands in one queue with a route and the single fact the owner needs.

  1. 1

    Paste a real payload

Use one sanitized lead from the form you already have, so the field names match.

  2. 2

    Build the nodes

Create the workflow with a dead-end before any outbound message. Test with the sample.

  3. 3

    Read ten briefs

Run ten recent leads through it. Fix the classification before you connect a sender.

The prompt to paste

Design an n8n workflow for a new inbound lead. I will paste a sample payload.

The workflow should:
1. Accept the payload from a webhook.
2. Reject it when email or company is missing, and write the reason to an error branch.
3. Classify the lead as one of: existing customer, new company, or unclear. Use only fields in the payload.
4. Produce a three-line brief: who they are, what they asked, which queue should own it.
5. Stop before any email is sent. I will add sending later, on purpose.

Show the node list in order and the expression for the classification. Do not add a CRM node I did not name.

Routing is not outreach. Leave the send node off until a person has read the briefs.
