Turn a transcript into meeting notes
ChatGPT turns a raw transcript into meeting notes you can send: decisions, owners, and what was only discussed.
Notes a person who missed the meeting can read, with decisions separated from talk.
- 1
Paste the transcript
Use the raw export. A cleaned recap hides the hedging the notes are supposed to catch.
- 2
Check every decision
If the room did not agree, move the line to open questions.
- 3
Send the notes
Put them in the thread the same day. The case ends when the people who were there can correct you.
The prompt to paste
Turn this transcript into meeting notes I can send to the people who were there and the one person who missed it. Meeting: [name, date, who was in the room] Transcript: [paste] Return: - Purpose, in one sentence. - Decisions. One sentence each. Include the owner only if someone accepted it in the transcript. - Open questions, with who was asked to answer if the transcript says. - Next steps with a date only when a date was spoken. - A short recap, under 80 words, of what was discussed and not decided. Do not turn a suggestion into a decision. Do not add attendees, deadlines, or action items that are not in the transcript. If a speaker is unclear, say so instead of guessing the name.
A fluent recap can invent consensus. Decisions stay only where someone agreed.
