Prepare for a 1-on-1 meeting from notes and updates
ChatGPT reads your notes and the other person's recent updates, then drafts an agenda and three questions to ask.
A short agenda with what to cover, what to ask, and what to defer, ready before the meeting starts.
- 1
Paste unfiltered notes
Include the half-formed thoughts. The agenda should cover what you actually want to talk about, not a polished list.
- 2
Cut the agenda to three topics
A 1-on-1 is not a status meeting. Keep the agenda short so there is room to talk.
- 3
Ask one of the three questions early
Use the first question in the first five minutes. It sets the tone and shows you prepared.
The prompt to paste
Prepare me for a 1-on-1 meeting. I will paste my rough notes and any recent updates from the other person. Meeting with: [name, role] Last meeting: [date, or "first meeting"] My notes: [paste topics I want to discuss, feedback I want to give, questions I need answered] Their recent updates (if available): [paste their status update, recent Slack messages, or work they shipped] Return: 1. Suggested agenda: 3-5 topics in priority order, with a time estimate for each (5 min, 10 min, etc.) 2. Three questions to ask them: about their work, blockers, or priorities 3. One thing to defer: a topic that can wait until next time 4. One thing to follow up on from last meeting (if this is not the first meeting) Do not invent topics I did not mention. If my notes are vague, ask me to clarify instead of guessing.
An agenda is not a script. Leave space for the other person to bring up what matters to them.
