Draft a short reply from selected text in Raycast AI

Raycast AI turns selected Slack or email text into a short reply you can send, with tone and length you choose.

·Writing·5 min·Starter

A reply under your length cap, in the requested tone, that answers what was actually asked.

  1. 1

    Select the message in context

Include the ask and any numbers or names you must respond to. Partial threads get vague replies.

  2. 2

Set tone and length before you generate

Regenerate once if it sounds like marketing. Shorter is usually more sendable.

  3. 3

    Read aloud once

Send only after you would say it to the person. Edit bracketed gaps before you paste.

The prompt to paste

Write a reply I can send. Use only what is in the selection — do not invent facts, dates, or commitments.

Selected message:
[paste or Raycast selection]

Channel:
[Slack thread / email / other]

Tone:
[e.g. direct, warm, apologetic but not groveling]

Length:
[e.g. under 3 sentences / under 80 words]

Return:
- The reply only, no preamble.
- If the message asks for something I cannot answer from the selection, add one bracketed line at the end: [I still need: …].

Rules:
- Do not agree to deadlines or scope unless the selection already does.
- No emojis unless I said casual Slack.
- Match their question count: if they asked two things, answer both or say which needs a follow-up.

Fast replies can imply promises you did not mean. Strip any line that commits your team without your approval.
