Write the smallest script that reproduces the bug

Codex turns a bug report into a tiny script or test that fails for the reason you described.

·Coding·30 min·Deep

A failing repro you can attach to the issue, plus the command that runs it.

  1. 1

    Describe the trigger

Include the input that fails and the input that works, if you know it.

  2. 2

    Run the command

Confirm the repro fails on your machine before you file it.

  3. 3

    Attach it

Put the script on the issue. The fix can come later, from a person or another pass.

The prompt to paste

Write the smallest reproduction of this bug. Prefer a single test or a single script. Do not fix the bug.

Bug:
[what you expected, what happened, and how to trigger it]

Rules:
- Use the project's existing language and test runner.
- Remove setup that is not required to see the failure.
- The repro must fail for the reason in the report. If you cannot make it fail, say what you tried.
- Do not change production code.
- End with the one command that runs the repro.

A repro that passes is not a repro. Do not file it.
